Early in her career, Kiki discovered the magic of Mitchell's brilliant lyrics, amazing arrangements, and solid song stylings, each new album giving greater insight into Joni's artistry. Ebsen created The Joni Mitchell Project" as an opportunity for Joni-inspired professional musicians to join her in declaring "our respect, regard, and unending appreciation for her gifts."
Kiki Ebsen has been described as a stunning vocalist and accomplished musician, who brings a fresh perspective and her own style to beloved songs that span several decades of favorites. Ebsen's songwriting talents are similarly respected, and her compositions are included on artists’ works like Boney James, Eric Marienthal and Jessy J. After touring with Christopher Cross, Boz Scaggs, Belinda Carlisle, Tracy Chapman, Al Jarreau, James Ingram and more, Kiki stands out vocally, even when blending with others to create classic hits so well known to audiences around the world.
Kiki Ebsen will perform selections from her latest CD (rel. 8/27/17), "Cool Songs, Volume 2: The Music of Joni Mitchell." The evening includes selections from nine of Mitchell's albums, from "Song to a Seagull" through "Wild Things Run Fast" (1968–1976). Joni's songs are presented in the spirit of "Shadows and Light." Beloved hits including "Chelsea Morning," "Both Sides Now," "Help Me," and "Big Yellow Taxi" as well as "Blonde in the Bleachers," "Black Crow," "Conversation," "Cold Blue Steel," and "Carey," as just a sample.
