The Village Music Series | BOGIES | (King Washington & TenFiveSixty)
King Washington & TenFiveSixty | May 14, 2015 | 7:30pm
Saturated in beautiful harmonies and rousing chord progressions alike, the music of King Washington can be described as a throwback to when rock n’ roll was a songwriter’s game. Two lead singers with complementary musical talents of which have been compared to REM, Bon Iver, The Talking Heads, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Muse and the Beatles. Together, the music is more than the next step in the evolution of indie-rock, it’s perfectly crafted, unafraid and effortless.
TenFiveSixty is the darker side of classic British guitar pop. The intensity of their live show rests somewhere between Mazzy Star and The Pretenders, with bold soundscapes and thoughtful lyrics conjuring up a twilight world of love and loss. The urgency of the music acts as a constant reminder that 3-piece pop still belongs in the world of mainstream. And yes, we want you to dance while you’re heart is breaking.
